Come along to the Peerie Night Oot and sample local food and drink, including local specialities such as tattie soup, reestit mutton and saat fish. The Uyeasound Jarl Squad will also make a visit with a chance to see the costumes worn at the 2012 Up-Helly-Aa and find out more about the other great festival in Unst’s calender!

A great social evening for all the family with great food, music and dancing.

Unst Regeneration Growers Enterprise – Doors Open Day.

URGE’s mission statement is “Changing your food miles into food inches”, producing chemical free, absolutely fresh seasonal vegetables, herbs, salad produce, fruits, shrubs and flowers, all grown in Baltasound, Unst.

Come along and see how they manage to achieve such a vast array of produce in the not always perfect climate here in Shetland.

Peat Casting Taster Sessions

Head for the peat hill and see if you can turn your hand to peat casting with Drewie & Dougal. And for the more competitive people out there come along and see if you can beat the record for the longest peat cast at last year’s Unstfest.

Valhalla Brewery – Doors Open Day

The Valhalla Brewery has kindly opened it’s doors for free guided tours of the new facility at Saxa Vord.

Come along and find out about the process involved in producing the most northerly ales in the UK and have a look around the gift shop which stocks both the Valhalla Ales and locally produced crafts.

Unstfest Open Mic Night

As a recurring Unstfest event, this year’s open mic night promises to be a great evening of entertainment. This is your opportunity to wow the crowd with your favourite song, tune or magic trick. Everyone is welcome to take to the stage or you could just sit and relax in the comfortable bar with a drink and enjoy the talent on show.

Palais Glide – World Record Attempt

Come along and join in to try and beat the record of 165 people all Palais Gliding at the same time to music provided by local musicians.

Everyone welcome, the more participants the merrier. Young, old, in push chairs & buggies; you can all help us try to break last year’s record!

(Note: The Palais Glide is a very simple, easy to learn dance where everyone can dance together in a long line).
