A vital Premier League clash, at home to Ness Utd, which would decide 8th in the League.

Sunday, 16th September 2007 - Premier League
Unst 3 - 2 Ness Utd
(HT 2-1)
Bruce Johnson A. Flaws (x2)
Darren Thomson
E. Thomson

Ness travelled to Unst knowing defeat would mean the islanders finishing above them in the table and after five minutes they got the perfect start. Ness defended a free kick in their own box and broke at pace to catch the Unst defence off guard with Alwyn Flaws applying the clynical finish.

The home side struggled to respond and it was the away side who played the more controlled football. Knowing the importance of the match Unst slowly built their game with Neil Smith and Darren Thompson showing composure at the back.

The trio of Erik Thomson, Neil Laurenson and Paul Henderson began to influence the game but Ness defended very competitively to hold the lead. Only after 25 minutes did an Unst move come together for Bruce Johnson to hammer home from 15 yards.

Lifted by the equaliser the home side applied some good pressure and Darren Thomson forced the ball over the line to take a deserved lead. The second half began in similar vain and the slick football allowed pacey Erik Thomson to slot home the third. Ness appeared to be down and out but showed they are no push overs by battling their way back into the game.

Craig Leslie and Jim Goudie provided a constant threat but it was Alwyn Flaws again providing the goal and a nervie finish. Both teams had further chances but it was Unst who held on for the win.

Both teams were competitive and tried to play passing football but in the end Unst did enough to deserve the crucial three points.
