{"id":5100,"date":"2021-01-06T15:05:20","date_gmt":"2021-01-06T15:05:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unst.org\/web\/bjhs\/?p=5100"},"modified":"2021-01-06T15:14:49","modified_gmt":"2021-01-06T15:14:49","slug":"term-3-remote-learning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unst.org\/web\/bjhs\/2021\/01\/06\/term-3-remote-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"Term 3 &#8211; Remote Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear Parent\/Carer,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I\u2019m sure you are aware from the news, the landscape has changed\nonce again due to COVID-19. The Scottish Government announced earlier in the\nweek that although Shetland will remain in Level 3 (guidance around Level 3 can\nbe found here &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/coronavirus-covid-19-protection-levels\/pages\/protection-level-3\/\">https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/publications\/coronavirus-covid-19-protection-levels\/pages\/protection-level-3\/<\/a>),\nall schools across Scotland have to follow new guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guidance states that the festive holiday period will be extended to Friday 8<sup>th<\/sup> of January. Most students will begin remote learning on Monday 11<sup>th<\/sup> January until Friday 29<sup>th<\/sup> January \u2013 all Primary will be issued with paper learning packs which will be distributed later this week or over the weekend. All Primary and Secondary pupils will also be added to their class Teams:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Lower Primary and Upper Primary will have\nopportunity to use Teams to work with their class teacher at set times of the\nweek \u2013 more details on this will follow.<\/li><li>Secondary pupils have Teams created for each of\ntheir subjects \u2013 their class teachers will set work at the start of each week\nwhich can be completed from home. Weekly overviews will be shared with parents\non a Monday morning to show the tasks\/activities\/work that are to be completed\nfor each subject.<ul><li>Teams\nis accessed online through Glow (<a href=\"https:\/\/glow.rmunify.com\/\">https:\/\/glow.rmunify.com\/<\/a>)\nand each student has their own unique Glow login. Mr Spence will email Lower\nPrimary parents the login details of their child following this email. Upper\nPrimary and Secondary pupils already know\/use Glow and will be aware of their\nlogin details. Anyone unable to access due to logins\/passwords, internet\nconnection or lack of laptop should contact me as soon as possible.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Those\nunfamiliar with Teams should watch this video &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/708941785785614\/videos\/2641563889392104\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/708941785785614\/videos\/2641563889392104<\/a>\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some pupils are able to access school from the 7<sup>th<\/sup>\nJanuary \u2013 these are pupils with either Additional Support Needs or who are the\nchildren of key workers with no other childcare options, who have applied to\nthe Local Authority and received confirmation of their place in school. Pupils\nin this category will be doing the same remote learning as their class from the\n11<sup>th<\/sup> January, although this will be done from within school\nsupervised by a BJHS member of staff.
