UnstFest 2016 Begins!

UnstFest 2016 the UK’s most northerly festival will take place on 16th – 24th July 2016, and again will be a showcase of events, workshops and experiences based within the Shetland Islands.

Utilising various venues within the island of Unst, the festival programme consists of over 50 different activities, events and innovative competitions within the space of 8 days. Roaming the island with a festival feeling gives both visitors and locals the opportunity to attend quiz nights, mystery tours, live music, record attempts, workshops, a family picnic day and the highly anticipated UnstFest carnival.

Local tourism development officer Selina-May Miller said ‘UnstFest 2016 has an incredible line-up for bairns and adults alike. There is so much to choose from and it really is worth the trip up to the North Isles for the week and weekend.’

Notable events include a cookery demonstration by award winning writer Marian Armitage, Island Parish Mystery Tours and the famous UnstFest swap shop. Events for bairns also include: pool parties, the Laughing Teapot & Bookbug Sessions.

Kellie Naulls Tourism Development officer for the North Isles added: ‘What is so brilliant about UnstFest is the real sense of community surrounding the week. It is amazing that it is run solely by volunteers’

UnstFest 2016 begins this Saturday 16th July and will run until the following weekend ending the 24th of July.
