Unst Week
|Recently we had an ‘Unst Week’ for the whole school. This involved lots of trips, walks and visits in and around our community. It was planned by our ‘Curriculum’ Staff working group, links to what makes our school unique and the pupils wanting to know more about the island they call home.
We are very lucky to have so many willing volunteers, parents, community members and former teachers in Unst who helped us deliver an action packed week – learning everything from crofting to Hermaness National Nature Reserve bird stocks to religious observance to bannock making to our shared Viking history and everything in-between. It really was an amazing week.
Huge thanks to everyone- pupils, staff, visitors and experts for making this such a success. Display boards will be up for Prizegiving tomorrow showing some of the learning that took place.
We took hundreds of photos, here are a few of them.
A huge thanks to Sandisons Trust for providing the funding in order for it happen.
The display boards above show what we learned and enjoyed as part of Unst Week. The diagram below shows how this matches to what we believe Our Curriculum means to us – the areas of Unst Week are highlighted in red.
