Remote3 (Mars Rover Project)

Our S2 pupils (with a little help from S3 Computing Science) have been working on a project with the University of Edinburgh whereby they had to design a robot that could complete challenges on the surface of Mars.

They built the robot out of Lego which included the motors for wheels, colour sensors and a distance sensors. They then had to code up each challenge based on the brief provided. We sent the robot and the code back to the team in Edinburgh and performed some testing (over Teams) yesterday.

This will lead us to testing it properly in the Mars Yard in 2 weeks time – an underground mine (in the Boulby Underground Laboratory) which is our simulated Mars environment.

An exciting project to be part of and helping us work on our robot design, engineering, problem solving and coding skills.
