John Muir Award – Peatland Restoration and Tree planting
|Peatland Restoration Project Officer – Sue White and Shetland Amenity Trust Woodlands Team Steven Hawkins and Paul Goddard work with our Conservers and Explorers. They showed us how we can easily start to restore eroded peatland in Hermaness National Nature Reserve, using Sphagnum Moss. They also took up some Birch trees which we planted in our school grounds. Thanks to them for their input today and we look forward to working with them again in the future. Anyone who has a strimmer and some time to do some preparation work so that we can plant more trees in our school grounds please get in touch.
