World Book Day

📚✨ World Book Day Celebrations ✨📚

The whole school took part in creating plate book characters, and the results were fantastic! 🎨📖 The entries have now been judged, and we’re delighted to announce the winners: Bobby, Calum, Emma, and Mrs Niven. Congratulations to our runners-up: Ruden, Lucy, Ellis, and Miss Risk.

Bairns also participated in Reading Buddies, an activity they always enjoy. It’s always lovely to see them reading together 👧📖🧑.

Every child received a book token to discover their next great read 📖.

Nursery took part in Stop and Read ⏹️🔔📚, helping them engage in short bursts of reading and build positive associations with books. They also took part in a fairy tale hunt.

Middle Primary pupils built book worlds from a range of materials, creating settings from their favourite stories. This task developed their creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and initiative.

Upper Primary demonstrated their mathematical understanding through book-themed tasks involving addition, measurement, decimals, statistics, money, and scale and ratio.

Secondary students took part in a book-themed anagram hunt organised by our wonderful Reading Ambassadors 🔎📚. Some secondary pupils also experienced a special digital Harry Potter and the Cursed Child event, going behind the scenes with the cast, crew, and backstage team.

Staff were invited to take part in a writing competition celebrating creativity throughout the school. The winners were Mr Spence (1st), Ms Nicholson (2nd), and Ms Thomson (3rd) ✍️.

A big thank you to all staff and pupils for their enthusiasm; to our Reading Ambassadors Eloise and Emma; to Mrs Thomason, Mrs Fordyce, and Miss Nicholson for their brilliant costumes; to Hazel, Oakley, and Thomas for judging the book character plates; to Miss Mitchell for organising the book character plate activity and prizes; and to Martha for planning the library experiences 📚
