Bridge Building 2026

Last week our team of Jack, Eloise and Cem took part in the annual Bridge Building Competition. Pupils from schools across Shetland worked in teams to plan, build and test their designs, aiming to be strong under load as well as cost-effective.

Team Baltasound finished 3rd overall, constructing a bridge that held 27.5kg of weight. They were also the winners of the best teamwork award

A big thank you to UHI Shetland, CITB and the organisors for organising and hosting the event.

The challenge brought together creativity, teamwork and hands-on STEM skills, and we are proud of our pupils for displaying innovation, problem solving and collaboration skills.
