Geography & History – With Geordie Jamieson

What a wonderful day! S1 and S2 were so privileged to have been on a walk to the Gallow Hill in Uyeasound today. Guided by George Jamieson (former AHS Head Teacher and a proud Uyeasound man), we have learned about press gangs, hidey holes, trig points, the different Isles off the coast of Unst, the clearances, unplanned boat trips to Norway and much, much more!

Huge thanks to Geordie for being such an engaging guide (and for arranging the weather 🌞). Aren’t we lucky to live here? This ties really well into what makes our school unique – a fantastic outdoor environment, learning about local history and geography, making the most of our knowledgeable community and celebrating our unique location on planet Earth!
