National Spaceport Competition

Earlier this week, our P7 and S1 pupils spent a day off timetable – taking part in a national competition to design and build a space port in the UK. It was in conjunction with Lockheed Martin and the Royal Aeronautical Society and our pupils learned about the factors that need to be considered when selecting a possible UK launch site.

Unst is up there with other possible launch sites so this was a great way to engage our pupils in an exciting industry that they could be part of when they leave school.

It was also a great experience for our pupils and the first step in a year long transition process for our P7s moving into S1.
