Book Cafe

Today, S1 and S2 enjoyed a Book Café event in English. Over the weekend, Miss Mitchell baked homemade cinnamon swirls, which pupils warmed up themselves today while preparing hot chocolates topped with cream and marshmallows.

It was a fun and relaxed atmosphere, filled with enthusiastic reading. The bairns explored a range of fiction and non-fiction texts, as well as audiobooks, with many becoming fully absorbed in their books. A particular highlight of the session was Joni discovering his Uncle Peter’s boat, Star of Hope, featured in the book Shetland Fishermen, creating a meaningful personal connection to the text.

The bairns demonstrated excellent organisational and practical skills while preparing their drinks and heating the cinnamon swirls responsibly. Most importantly, the event provided a cosy and enjoyable opportunity for pupils to relax, read, and build positive associations with reading.
